At 19.5 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 30 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

The seat has nine recline positions, and the manual says to set one before installing, with the car on level ground. Rear-facing for a baby without head and neck control, the tip of the recline arrow must be in the solid blue section. With head control, it may be in the solid blue or the striped blue-green section. Forward-facing, it must be in the striped blue-green section. A towel or pool noodle is allowed only for a baby without head control, rear-facing in recline position 1. Position B is for booster mode only. In harness mode up to 3 inches of the base may hang over the seat edge.
The manual says to secure the tether for forward-facing harness mode and not to use it rear-facing or on an aircraft. The lower anchor attachment is limited to 30 lb rear-facing and 35 lb forward-facing; above that, the vehicle belt goes through the ClickTight instead. With a lap-shoulder belt, the preferred method, closing the ClickTight replaces locking the retractor. For models with the anti-rebound bar, you attach it before a rear-facing install and remove it for forward-facing. The manual also says the bar is not a carry handle.
From 40 to 120 lb and 44 to 63 inches, the seat becomes a belt-positioning booster. It must be in recline position B, the positioning layer must be folded up, and the base must sit completely on the vehicle seat, with no overhang allowed. Only the vehicle lap and shoulder belt holds the child; the manual says never to use a lap belt alone. The lap part should sit low across the upper thighs, and the shoulder part goes through the upper guide above the shoulder and across the center of the chest, clear of the neck. Lower anchors and tether are optional in this mode.
The head infant insert must be used with the middle insert, and the head and middle inserts, or the lower insert, may be used from 5 to 20 lb rear-facing. No insert is used above 20 lb or forward-facing, and the head restraint bib must be unfolded at 20 lb. The cover comes off in sections: head restraint, seat pan, shell sides and lower seat. The manual says to fasten all hook and loop tabs before washing, follow the care label, and not bleach or iron. The harness and anti-rebound bar are sponge cleaned, and the cup holders twist out and are dishwasher safe.

In harness mode, yes: the manual certifies it for aircraft, rear- or forward-facing, without the tether. In booster mode it is not certified, because a belt-positioning booster needs a lap and shoulder belt that aircraft do not have.
