The risk

How it is being fixed
The remedy for this recall is currently under development. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed beginning September 1, 2026. Recaro Child Safety LLC (Recaro) is recalling certain Recaro ProSport model 385 child restraints, manufactured from June 16, 2010, through January 31, 2013. When the affected child seats are installed with the LATCH lower anchors only (without the top tether), the child's head can move excessively, increasing the risk of injury. The risk
In the event of a crash, the child restraint could fail to protect the child from contacting interior surfaces of the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
How it is being fixed
Recaro will notify registered owners and will provide, at no cost, a label to affix over the existing information label and a complete set of new instructions informing owners to discontinue use of the LATCH system when the weight of the child reaches 40 pounds. The problem
Certain Evenflo Big Kid Factory Select booster seats, Model Nos. 30911173AD, 3091967AD, 30911118AD, and 30911120D, shipped between August 6, 2012, and September 18, 2012, fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems." The subject seats were originally manufactured solely for purposes of retail display and not to be sold at retail. Therefore, the seats were packaged without the instruction manual or the required registration card. However, the seats were inadvertently shipped to Evenflo's institutional customers (i.e. hospitals, government agencies) to be given to families. None of the affected units were sold at retail stores.
The risk
Without the instruction manual the seat may be used improperly. Should the owner not file a registration with the child seat manufacturer due to lack of information on how to do so, they may not be notified of a safety recall. Either condition puts the child at an increased risk of possible injury in the event of a crash.
How it is being fixed
The affected seats have a label stating: "DISPLAY ONLY Â NOT INTENDED FOR SALE," located on the back of the booster seat headrest. Evenflo will mail owners who have received an affected Big Kid booster seat a remedy kit that includes a consumer registration card, an instruction manual, and an overlabel to cover the current label stating: "DISPLAY ONLY Â NOT INTENDED FOR SALE." EVENFLO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MAESTRO CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS WITH MODEL NUMBERS BEGINNING WITH 310 AND BUILT FROM NOVEMBER 24, 2009, THROUGH APRIL 9, 2010. THESE SEATS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 213, "CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEMS."

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, A CRACK MAY FORM AT THE FRONT OF THE SEAT ADJACENT TO THE HARNESS ADJUSTER CAUSING THE CHILD NOT TO BE ADEQUATELY RESTRAINED, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.

The problem
CERTAIN CYBEX SOLUTION X-FIX MODEL BOOSTER SEATS MANUFACTURED DURING FEBRUARY 2010, WERE PRODUCED USING AN INCORRECT WARNING LABEL. THE DEFECT CONSISTS OF AN INCORRECT WARNING STATEMENT RELATED TO SECURING AN UNOCCUPIED BOOSTER SEAT. THIS STATEMENT IS INCONSISTENT WITH CYBEX RECOMMENDED PRACTICES - ALWAYS SECURE AN UNOCCUPIED BOOSTER WITH THE VEHICLE SEAT BELT. IF A CAREGIVER FOLLOWS THE WARNING AS WRITTEN, THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK THAT THE UNOCCUPIED BOOSTER SEAT COULD STRIKE A VEHICLE OCCUPANT AND CAUSE INJURY IN A SEVERE CRASH. THE INCORRECT WARNING STATEMENT APPEARS IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL AND ON THE HEADREST WARNING LABEL.

INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE MOUNTING BRACKET AND THE BASE CAUSED BY WARPING OF THE BASE OR INADEQUATE MATING BETWEEN THE SHELL AND THE BASE MOUNTING BRACKET CAN RESULT IN DIFFICULTY ATTACHING OR DETACHING THE SHELL FROM THE BASE.

Find the manufacturer, model number and manufacture date on the labels on the seat and its base. A recall can cover only some model numbers or production dates, so match those details against the official notice, not a retailer’s shortened product name.
Search NHTSA’s recall lookup (opens in a new tab) and the manufacturer’s own recall page. If a notice might apply, contact the manufacturer and follow its instructions for your seat. A published fix does not mean a particular seat has already been repaired.
Register your seat with the manufacturer so it can contact you about future recalls. This site does not collect registrations or send recall alerts.

Use the search at the top of this page. Type the brand or model name printed on your seat’s label, such as KeyFit or Revolve 360, or an NHTSA recall number. You can also pick a brand and the year the recall was reported. Then compare your label’s model number and manufacture date with the dates listed in each matching recall.
Where does this recall list come from?
It is built from NHTSA’s official recall data file, which lists every safety defect and compliance recall a manufacturer reports. This site keeps only the child restraint campaigns and checks the file for updates every day. The recall number links to NHTSA’s own record.
My seat’s brand appears here. Is my seat recalled?
Not necessarily. A recall usually covers specific model numbers made between specific dates. Compare the label on your seat with the models and dates in the notice, then confirm with the manufacturer or NHTSA’s lookup.
What should I do if my car seat is recalled?
Follow the manufacturer’s recall notice. It explains the fix, such as a replacement part, and what to do until the fix arrives. Contact the manufacturer if your seat’s model number and date match and you have not received a notice.
If a seat is not listed, has it never been recalled?
This list covers child restraint recalls reported to NHTSA since 2010. It cannot confirm the history or condition of an individual seat, and older or non-US products may not appear. Always check the label and the official sources.
