Who is the Turn and Go 360 DLX Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat for?

The Turn and Go 360 DLX (CC423) is a rotating all-in-one seat fixed to its base: rear-facing for 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 in., forward-facing for 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 in., and booster for 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 52 in. It is not aircraft certified and expires after 10 years.

Reasons to consider it

  • A SecureTech magnetic chest clip and antibacterial-treated fabrics, listed on the DLX page
  • Rotation for loading, with one base installation for all three modes
  • Red-to-green tension indicators, a built-in lock-off and a top tether visual indicator
  • Rear-facing to 40 lb and 40 in. with 5 recline positions

Things to weigh up

  • The manual warns not to use the magnetic chest clip with a child who has an implanted electronic medical device
  • Not certified for aircraft use, according to the manual
  • Lower anchors only up to 30 lb rear-facing and 35 lb forward-facing
  • No published seat weight or width

My take on the Turn and Go 360 DLX Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat

The DLX suits a family that wants a seat that turns toward the door and would use the magnetic chest clip its page lists. It shares the manual and limits with the standard Turn and Go 360 and the ST, so the choice comes down to listed features, color and price. The trade-off is the same for all three: the seat stays on its base and is not certified for aircraft use.

Who the Turn and Go 360 DLX Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat fits

This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Safety 1st gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.

Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb · 19 to 40 in
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness30 to 65 lb · 34.4 to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
Belt-positioning booster (high-back)40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 52 in
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the Turn and Go 360 DLX Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat installs

Belt lock-off
Built-in belt lock-off. A lock-off clamps the vehicle belt so you do not have to switch the belt's retractor into its locked mode.
Recline
5 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position no-rethread headrest/harness. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

Will it fit your car?

Safety 1st does not publish a width for this seat, so measure your back seat and compare it with the seat in a store before buying.

  • Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
  • Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
  • Not certified for aircraft use: plan on gate-checking it or using a different seat to fly.

What to know before you live with it

The magnetic chest clip

The DLX page lists a SecureTech magnetic chest clip. The shared manual explains that a magnet helps hold the clip's locking mechanism together and may interfere with an implanted electronic medical device. It says not to use this chest clip with a child who has one. Parents or caregivers with an implanted device should keep it away from the clip and ask their doctor and the device maker before using it. To undo the clip, hold it with both hands, press the top and bottom buttons, and pull the top half away from the bottom half.

Installing and rotating

Install the base with the seat side-facing and the base flat on the vehicle seat. Attach the tether in every mode when the vehicle has tether anchors. With a vehicle belt, open the lock-off and tighten until both tension indicators are completely green. The lower anchor belt is only for children up to 30 lb rear-facing or 35 lb forward-facing. In outboard positions the seat must touch the vehicle seat in front or be as close as possible. Side-facing is only for loading, never while driving, and the seat must be fully reclined in Position 5 before you turn it to face forward.

Infant fit, booster use and washing

Rear-facing uses 5 recline positions and two level lines. The bottom line is for children 5 to 30 lb and 19 to 34.3 in., and the top line is for 30 to 40 lb and 34.4 to 40 in. once they sit up unassisted. The head pillow and wedge pillow are for rear-facing only. In booster mode the harness is stored and the vehicle belt holds the child and the seat, even when empty. Wash the seat pad inside out, cold, on a gentle cycle without bleach, and tumble dry on low for 10 to 12 minutes.

DLX compared with the standard Turn and Go 360

The standard Turn and Go 360 page lists the same three modes and limits, the same 10-position headrest and harness and 5 recline positions. It lists premium fabrics and a top tether visual indicator but no magnetic chest clip. The DLX page adds the SecureTech magnetic chest clip and describes its fabrics as antibacterial-treated. Neither page publishes a width or seat weight, so neither gives a reason to expect a different fit in the car.

Answers refer to the model and manual version on this page. Check the instructions supplied with your seat.

Before you buy

  1. Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
  2. Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Safety 1st lists 2 colors of this seat.
  3. Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
  4. Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Safety 1st so you hear about the next one.
