Who is the Turn and Go 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat for?

The Turn and Go 360 (CC427) is a rotating all-in-one seat fixed to its base: rear-facing harness for 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 in., forward-facing harness for 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 in., and high-back booster for 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 52 in. It expires after 10 years.

Reasons to consider it

  • Rotation for loading in all three modes, up to 100 lb, according to Safety 1st
  • One base installation for all three modes, with red-to-green belt tension indicators and a built-in lock-off
  • Rear-facing to 40 lb and 40 in. with 5 recline positions
  • A 10-position headrest and harness that adjust together

Things to weigh up

  • Not certified for aircraft use in any mode, according to the manual
  • Lower anchors are limited to 30 lb rear-facing and 35 lb forward-facing; heavier children need a vehicle belt install
  • The seat is attached to the base by cable wires and should not be removed
  • Safety 1st does not publish the seat's weight or width

My take on the Turn and Go 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat

It suits a family that wants to turn the seat toward the door for loading, from newborn to booster, and can live without aircraft use. The main trade-off is that the seat stays attached to its base by cable wires, and the manual says it is not certified for aircraft use. The DLX shares its manual and limits, but its page adds a magnetic chest clip and antibacterial-treated fabrics that the CC427 page does not list.

Who the Turn and Go 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat fits

This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Safety 1st gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.

Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb · 19 to 40 in
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness30 to 65 lb · 34.4 to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
Belt-positioning booster (high-back)40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 52 in
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the Turn and Go 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat installs

Belt lock-off
Built-in belt lock-off. A lock-off clamps the vehicle belt so you do not have to switch the belt's retractor into its locked mode.
Recline
5 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position no-rethread headrest/harness. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

Will it fit your car?

Safety 1st does not publish a width for this seat, so measure your back seat and compare it with the seat in a store before buying.

  • Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
  • Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
  • Not certified for aircraft use: plan on gate-checking it or using a different seat to fly.

What to know before you live with it

Installing the base

The manual describes one base installation, then points to child fit for each of the three modes. You install the base with the seat turned side-facing and the base flat on the vehicle seat. When the vehicle has tether anchors, you must attach and tighten the top tether in all modes. With a vehicle belt, open the built-in lock-off, tighten until both tension indicators turn green, then close it. Lower anchors are only for children up to 30 lb rear-facing or 35 lb forward-facing. If the base moves more than 1 in., the manual suggests tightening the belt, reinstalling, or trying another seating position or method.

Rotation and recline rules

Squeeze the rotation handle on the front of the base to turn the seat. The side-facing position is only for placing a child in or taking them out, and the manual says never to leave it side-facing while the vehicle is moving. A rotation lock indicator shows the locked symbol when the seat is secure. Rear-facing has 5 recline positions. For children 5 to 30 lb and 19 to 34.3 in., the bottom level line must be parallel with the ground. For children 30 to 40 lb and 34.4 to 40 in. who sit up unassisted, the top line applies. The seat must be fully reclined in Position 5 before you rotate it to forward-facing.

Booster mode and cleaning

In booster mode the harness is stored in the seat and the accessories come out, except the cup holders. The vehicle lap and shoulder belt holds the child, and the seat must stay belted even when empty. The manual says not to use the booster if the tops of the child's ears are above the headrest or the head is less than 5 in. below the roof. The seat pad comes off without removing the harness. Turn it inside out, machine wash it cold on a gentle cycle without bleach, and tumble dry on low for 10 to 12 minutes. The harness straps and buckle are spot cleaned, and the cup holders are top-rack dishwasher safe.

How it differs from the DLX

Both pages link the same user guide, whose cover reads 360, 360 DLX and 360 ST, and both list the same three modes and limits. The differences are in the feature lists. The DLX page lists a SecureTech magnetic chest clip and premium antibacterial-treated fabrics. The CC427 page lists premium fabrics and the top tether visual indicator, but no magnetic chest clip. If the magnetic clip matters to you, check which version you are buying.

Answers refer to the model and manual version on this page. Check the instructions supplied with your seat.

Before you buy

  1. Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
  2. Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect.
  3. Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
  4. Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Safety 1st so you hear about the next one.
