The manual is clear that the rigid lower anchor attachment only stabilizes the booster; the vehicle lap and shoulder belt restrains the child. To attach, you squeeze the adjustment handle under the base, pull the connectors out, rotate them 180° and push them onto the vehicle anchors until they click and the green indicator shows. Then you push the booster flat against the vehicle seat back. In a center seat, CYBEX allows the inner anchors of the outboard seats only if they are exactly 11 in apart and the vehicle maker allows it. Without anchors, it sits on the seat and is held by the belt.
Raise the headrest to the top, seat the child, then adjust it so the shoulder belt crosses the middle of the shoulder. The manual also says no more than 0.8 inches should remain between the shoulder and the headrest. The shoulder belt goes between the side pad and the headrest and through the green shoulder belt guide, and the lap belt runs under both armrests. The buckle must not sit inside the lap belt guide; the manual says a long buckle stalk may mean trying another seat. The cover comes in five parts: reclining headrest pad, headrest cover, side pad cover, backrest cover and seat pad.
