Diono's manual does not publish its width or weight.

How the Everett NXT High-Back Booster installs

Lower anchors: LATCH/UAS connectors. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.

What to know before you live with it

Lower anchor connectors with indicators

Press the LATCH/UAS adjustment button, rotate the connectors out from their storage slots on the bottom sides of the seat and extend them until they click. Push both onto the vehicle's lower anchors. The lock button changes from RED to GREEN when each connector latches, and the manual warns to make sure both are GREEN; if one is RED, release and reattach it. To remove the seat, pull the grey lock button and pull the seat away, one side at a time. The booster will still move slightly against the vehicle seat even when attached.

Head support and recline

The head support adjusts differently from Diono's lever-style boosters. You rotate the head support adjustment tabs to release the panel, pull the panel out while lifting the head support and pushing down on the backrest, set the height, then rotate the tabs back to lock it. The shoulder belt guide should sit slightly above the child's shoulders, at least 1 cm. The recline is pushed back until it moves freely, then set so the head support touches the vehicle seat back or head support; a gap behind the booster is acceptable.

Securing the child

Only the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt may restrain the child, never a lap belt alone. Route the shoulder belt through the shoulder belt guide and the lap belt through both lower belt guides, flat across the hips and not high on the belly. The buckle should line up with the red belt path guides. The manual says the shoulder belt must pass through the lap belt guide, not over the armrest, and if the buckle pulls across the lap belt guide into the seat you should choose another seating position.

Covers and cleaning

Detach the backrest first. The head support cover unsnaps at the back and its elastic loops pull over the belt guides. The backrest cover has a hook and loop strip and elastic loops on the shell hooks, and the seat bottom cover pulls off. Fasten the hook and loop before washing. Machine or hand wash the fabrics in cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, and dry flat away from direct sunlight. Do not bleach, iron or dry clean.

No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.

The manual says to use it only with children who weigh 40 to 120 lb (18 to 54 kg) and are 38 to 63 in (97 to 160 cm) tall.

Can the Everett NXT be used as a backless booster?

The Everett NXT manual describes high-back use only and says not to use the seat in any configuration not shown in the instructions. Diono's Cambria 2, by contrast, has a backless mode rated for 40 to 120 lb and 38 to 63 in.
