How the Solana 2 Backless Booster installs

What to know before you live with it
LATCH installation on the LATCH version
You free the connectors from their storage slots, lay the booster on its side, press the silver cam lock lever and pull out both straps without overextending them. Attach the far connector first, hooks facing up, then push the booster back and pull one adjuster strap tight and then the other. The seat bottom must sit flat and touch the seat back, though it will still move a little. Do not use LATCH if it interferes with the seat belt, and in a center seat it must not rock. The empty booster must be secured with LATCH or the belt.
Belt fit and the guide strap
The lap belt goes through both lap belt guides, flat across the hips and not high over the belly, and the shoulder belt must lie flat without touching the neck. You tighten by pulling the shoulder belt upward and check that the buckle lines up with the red belt path guides. If the shoulder belt does not fit the child correctly, the manual says the seat must be used with the shoulder belt guide strap stored under the cover, adjusted so the red guide sits just above the shoulder. Leave a switchable retractor in ELR mode.
Cover, cup holders and washing
The cover comes off by unhooking the elastic tabs from the plastic tabs underneath the booster and pulling it over the bottom. Take the manual out of its pocket first. The cover can be machine or hand washed in cold water on a gentle cycle and dried flat away from direct sunlight, with no bleach, ironing or dry cleaning. The cup holders swivel out for use and back into a recessed position. The manual warns against hot drinks or food and against stepping on them.
Is the Solana 2 Backless Booster recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
