Who is the Andi 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat for?

The Maxi-Cosi Andi 360 is a rotating all-in-one seat: rear-facing from 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 inches, forward-facing with harness from 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 inches, and a high-back booster from 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 52 inches. It expires after 10 years and is not certified for aircraft.

Reasons to consider it

  • Rotating to side-facing for loading in rear- and forward-facing modes
  • Long rear-facing use, to 40 lb and 40 inches
  • A 10-position headrest and harness with no rethreading
  • A 10-year life from the date of manufacture

Things to weigh up

  • Not certified for aircraft use in any mode
  • Lower anchors stop at 30 lb rear-facing and 35 lb forward-facing; the vehicle belt is required above that
  • Maxi-Cosi's comparison data lists the seat at 40.52 lb
  • Neither the product page nor the manual gives a width

My take on the Andi 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat

The Andi 360 suits families who want to turn the seat toward the door in both harnessed modes and keep one seat from birth to booster. The trade-offs are weight and travel: Maxi-Cosi lists it at 40.52 lb, the seat is tied to its base by a cable, and it is not certified for aircraft. The Sela has the same limits without rotation and is listed at 27.25 lb.

Who the Andi 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat fits

This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Maxi-Cosi gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.

Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb · 19 to 40 in
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness30 to 65 lb · 34.4 to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
Belt-positioning booster (high-back)40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 52 in
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the Andi 360 Rotating All-in-One Convertible Car Seat installs

Belt lock-off
Built-in belt lock-off. A lock-off clamps the vehicle belt so you do not have to switch the belt's retractor into its locked mode.
Recline
5 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position no-rethread headrest/harness. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

Will it fit your car?

Maxi-Cosi does not publish a width for this seat, so measure your back seat and compare it with the seat in a store before buying. It weighs 40.52 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

  • Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
  • Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
  • Not certified for aircraft use: plan on gate-checking it or using a different seat to fly.

What to know before you live with it

Rotation and recline

Squeeze the rotation handle on the front of the base to move the seat out of rear- or forward-facing. Side-facing is only for placing or removing the child, and the manual forbids leaving it side-facing while the vehicle moves. Before rotating to forward-facing, the seat must be fully reclined in position 5. Rear-facing has 5 recline positions: for children 5 to 30 lb and 19 to 34.3 inches the bottom level line must be level, and for children 30 to 40 lb and 34.4 to 40 inches who sit unassisted, the top line applies.

Installation limits by mode

The base installs with the LATCH lower anchor belt or the vehicle belt, never both. The manual sets lower anchor limits of 30 lb rear-facing and 35 lb forward-facing; above those, use the vehicle belt with the built-in lockoff. When top tether anchors are available, the manual says the tether must always be attached and tightened in all modes. The seat is attached to the base by cable wires that the manual says should not be removed. The base should move no more than 1 inch side to side at the belt path.

Harness fit and booster mode

Rear-facing, the head must be at least 1 inch below the top of the headrest and the straps at or slightly below the shoulders. Forward-facing, the ears must be below the top of the headrest and the straps at or slightly above the shoulders. Booster mode uses only the vehicle lap and shoulder belt, with the harness stored and accessories removed except cup holders. The child stops using the booster at 100 lb, 52 inches, when the ears pass the headrest top, or when the adult belt fits.

Washing

Only the top parts of the harness covers and the seat pad can be machine washed. Turn the seat pad inside out first, then wash separately on a cold, gentle cycle without bleach and tumble dry separately for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. The toddler pad and body pillow go inside a pillow case. Harness straps and the bottom harness covers are spot clean only. The manual says the cup holders are top-rack dishwasher safe.

Answers refer to the model and manual version on this page. Check the instructions supplied with your seat.

Before you buy

  1. Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
  2. Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Maxi-Cosi lists 3 colors of this seat.
  3. Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
  4. Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Maxi-Cosi so you hear about the next one.
