What to know before you live with it
The base: lockoff, indicators and angle
A single release lever opens the vehicle belt lockoff and releases the LATCH lower anchor belts; pushing it down closes the lockoff and lets the belts retract. The manual says lockoffs stop the vehicle belt loosening after tightening. Tension indicators should turn completely green. To set the angle, squeeze the handle at the back of the base, lift it, and release so the base foot locks into a position; the angle indicator turns green with no red showing when it is correct.

Using the load leg
The load leg is stored under the base. The manual calls it optional and says the base install is equally safe with or without it, while also stating that load legs reduce downward rotation and limit rebound in a crash. To use it, fold it out, squeeze the buttons and lower it to the floor, then lift the front of the base to lock it. It must be perpendicular to the floor. Do not use it on a storage compartment or if it does not reach the floor.

Carrier rules and cleaning
The carry handle must be upright and locked when carrying and when installed in the vehicle. The manual warns against soft surfaces, raised surfaces and shopping carts, and says to fully buckle the child even outside the car. The pad and accessories machine wash separately on a cold, gentle cycle and tumble dry for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. The canopy is hand washed and line dried, and harness straps are spot cleaned with warm sudsy water.
