My take on the Fit360 Zip ClearTex Rotating Convertible Car Seat
The Fit360 Zip suits a family that wants one rotating seat from birth, plus a seat pad that zips off in one piece for washing. The trade-off is size: Chicco lists 18.25 in wide and 32.25 in front to back rear-facing, with a 31.25 lb product weight. The Fit360 SE, compared in the questions below, starts at a higher weight and has no newborn positioner.

How the Fit360 Zip ClearTex Rotating Convertible Car Seat installs
Lower anchors
Standard LATCH. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Recline
6 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
15-position headrest/harness height adjust. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
At 18.25 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 31.25 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Certified for aircraft use, so it can travel as a seat rather than checked baggage.

What to know before you live with it
Using it from birth
The newborn head and body positioner is only for babies from 4 to 11 lb, only rear-facing, and the head and body parts must be used together. The head positioner's plastic inserts slide into openings in the headrest fabric. The body positioner goes in with the buckle through its bottom slot and the straps over its side panels, pushed firmly into the seat. No other insert or pillow may be added. Premature babies need their doctor's approval. Rear-facing ends at 40 lb or 43 inches.
The seat must come off the base to install it or change the recline, using the seat removal tool on the end of the harness adjuster strap. The manual names lap-shoulder belt, LATCH and lap belt installation and says to use the tether for all 3. For the recommended lap-shoulder method, open the LeverLock door, route the belt between the frame and door, guide the shoulder belt into the path opposite the buckle, and click the door shut. No more than 3 inches of base may overhang the seat.
Remove the shoulder pads, waist belt pads, crotch pad, positioners and cup holders, and undo the buckle and chest clip. Raise the headrest and unsnap its fabric. Then lower the headrest, find the zipper tab at the side, unzip all the way around and lift the pad off around the headrest and harness release button. The positioner cover also unzips from its foam. Soft goods are hand washed or machine washed cold on delicate and hung to dry. The harness is sponge-cleaned only, and cup holders go on the dishwasher's top rack.
Chicco includes a Fit360 Mirror that attaches to the base and gives a view of a rear-facing child. It describes the mirror as convex, shatter-resistant and crash test approved for the Fit360. The magnetic harness holders keep the straps and buckles contained until the child is ready to be secured, and the chest clip is magnetic. Red and green ready-to-ride indicators on both sides of the base show whether the seat is locked in a riding position. An extra base can be bought for a second vehicle.
Is the Fit360 Zip ClearTex Rotating Convertible Car Seat recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
Fit360 Zip ClearTex Rotating Convertible Car Seat: common questions
What are the Fit360 Zip weight and height limits?
Rear-facing is for 4 to 40 lb and no taller than 43 inches. Forward-facing is for children at least one year old, 26.5 to 65 lb, and 49 inches or less.
The manual says not to use the lower anchors for a child over 30 lb rear-facing or over 35 lb forward-facing. Above those weights, install the base with the vehicle belt, always with the tether.
Yes, on forward-facing aircraft seats only. The manual says to lift the armrest, rotate the seat 90 degrees, lay the lap belt over the LeverLock door and belt guides, tighten it, then rotate the seat to a riding position.
Chicco lists it at 18.25 in wide and 25.75 in tall, with a footprint of 32.25 in rear-facing and 25 in forward-facing. The product weight is 31.25 lbs.
Chicco rates the Fit360 SE rear-facing from 12-40 lbs, so it does not cover the smallest babies. It has the same 26.5-65 lbs forward-facing range, the same 18.25 in width and a 15-position headrest.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Chicco lists 2 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Chicco so you hear about the next one.
