The Chicco Fit3x ClearTex is a 16.7 in wide all-in-one seat. It rear-faces from 5 to 40 lb and up to 43 in, forward-faces from 26.5 to 65 lb and 38 to 54 in, and becomes a booster from 40 to 100 lb and 44 to 57 in. Its expiry is a "Do Not Use After" date printed under the seat.
The Fit3x suits a family that needs three seats across or has a narrow back seat, since Chicco lists it at 16.7 in wide and 21 lb. It installs with LockSure belt lock-offs or Mini Grip LATCH connectors and has 6 recline positions. The OneFit LX has the same weight ranges, but Chicco lists it at 19 in wide and 25.5 lb, with 8 recline positions, a SuperCinch LATCH tightener and a LeverLock forward-facing belt lock.

This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Check the date label on the shell before using a hand-me-down; every seat has an expiry.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
At 16.7 in at its widest, this seat is one of the narrower ones in its class and is a candidate for three across in many mid-size cars. It weighs 21 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

Rear-facing, the vehicle belt runs through the blue belt path under the seating surface, in front of the crotch strap, then into the rear-facing lock-off while you pull the shoulder belt tight. Forward-facing uses the red belt path behind the backrest pad, the forward-facing lock-off and the top tether. For LATCH, you route the lower anchor strap through whichever belt path you need, and the manual does not allow LATCH above 40 lb with the harness. The tether is never used rear-facing. The seat should not move more than 1 in at the belt path, and it may not overhang the vehicle seat by more than 3 in.

The recline handle sets one of 6 positions, and the bubble level shows the correct range for rear-facing, forward-facing and booster use. The headrest lifts with its own handle and carries the harness, so the straps sit at or below the shoulders rear-facing and at or above them forward-facing. The newborn insert is only for 5 to 11 lb. A separate side support must be used in both harness modes up to 40 lb, and never in booster mode. The crotch strap has 2 positions and must move to Position 2 when you turn the seat forward-facing.

The harness stays in the seat. Its straps tuck into a compartment in the backrest and the buckle goes into a compartment under the seat pad. The child must be at least 4 years old, 40 to 100 lb, 44 to 57 in, and able to sit still. The shoulder belt runs through the orange guide at the bottom of the headrest, which should sit at or just above the shoulder. The manual calls LATCH and the tether optional but recommended in booster mode. An empty booster must still be secured with LATCH or the vehicle belt. The cup holders take plastic cups under 12 oz only.

The manual says to hand wash the soft goods, or machine wash them in cold water on a delicate cycle with mild detergent, then hang them to dry. No bleach, solvents or household cleaners. The harness straps are spot cleaned with warm water and mild soap and never machine washed. Lower anchor straps get warm water only, and Chicco says they cannot be replaced, so do not remove them. If debris gets in the buckle, take out the crotch strap and rinse the buckle in a warm cup of water. The cup holders can go on the top rack of a dishwasher.

No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
Chicco lists it at 16.7 in wide, 25 in tall fully upright and 30 in deep fully reclined, and says it fits 3 across. Whether three seats fit depends on your car and the seats beside it, so I would measure the back seat first.

The manual says not to use it after the "Do Not Use After" date on the label on the underside of the seat. It does not give a number of years, so check that label on the seat you buy.

Yes, in rear-facing and forward-facing harness mode, on forward-facing aircraft seats only, with the lap belt through the matching belt path. Booster mode is not certified for aircraft because planes have no lap-shoulder belts.
