Who is the OneFit LX ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat for?
The Chicco OneFit LX ClearTex is an all-in-one seat. It rear-faces from 5 to 40 lb and up to 43 in, forward-faces from 26.5 to 65 lb and up to 54 in, and becomes a high-back booster from 40 to 100 lb and up to 57 in. The manual says not to use it once it is more than 10 years old.
Reasons to consider it
A 10-year life stated in the manual
Forward-facing seat belt installs with the LeverLock self-tensioning handle
A SuperCinch LATCH tightener for rear-facing installs
8 recline positions, with a level line on the label for installs on a slope
Things to weigh up
Rear-facing LATCH stops at 35 lb, so a heavier rear-facing child needs the seat belt install
Forward-facing LATCH stops at 40 lb with the harness
Listed at 19 in wide and 25.5 lb, so check how it fits beside other passengers
On a slope, forward-facing and booster installs are limited to recline positions 7 or 8
My take on the OneFit LX ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat
The OneFit LX suits a family that wants one seat from birth to booster and expects to install it forward-facing with the seat belt, where the LeverLock handle tensions the belt. Chicco lists it at 19 in wide and 25.5 lb, against 16.7 in and 21 lb for the narrower Fit3x. The OneFit Max has the same ranges, adds a magnetic chest clip, harness pockets and more rear-facing legroom, and is listed at 19.5 in wide and 27.0 lb.

Who the OneFit LX ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat fits
This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Chicco gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.
Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb · Up to 43 in
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness26.5 to 65 lb · Up to 54 in · from 12 months
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
High-back booster40 to 100 lb · 44 to 57 in · from 4 years
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the OneFit LX ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat installs
Lower anchors
SuperCinch LATCH. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Recline
8 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position headrest/harness height adjust. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
At 19 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 25.5 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Certified for aircraft use, so it can travel as a seat rather than checked baggage.

What to know before you live with it
Rear-facing install and the 35 lb LATCH limit
Rear-facing, you set a reclined position and check that the bubble falls between the rear-facing lines. On a slope, the level line on the blue label near the belt path should be level with the ground instead. The LATCH strap slides to the blue rear-facing opening, then you pull the LATCH adjuster (Pull 1st) and the SuperCinch tightener (Pull 2nd). The manual does not allow rear-facing LATCH for a child over 35 lb. With the seat belt, the belt goes through the blue path and into the lock-off. No more than 3 in of the base may overhang the vehicle seat, and the tether is never used rear-facing.
For a seat belt install, you raise the headrest, unsnap the seat pad, open the LeverLock handle in the seat back, route the lap-shoulder belt through the red forward-facing path and buckle it. Both parts of the belt then go up between the tension bars, and you rotate and press the handle until it clicks. The shoulder belt goes into its guide and the top tether is attached. A LATCH install uses the red opening and is limited to 40 lb. On a slope, only recline positions 7 or 8 are allowed forward-facing. The manual calls the seat belt with tether the recommended forward-facing method.
Booster mode is for children at least 4 years old, 40 to 100 lb and able to sit still in a seat belt. Setup stores the chest clip and buckle tongues in compartments on the seat back and the crotch buckle in a compartment under the seat pad, and the shoulder pads and crotch strap pad come off and are stored for later use. The shoulder belt passes through the orange guide at the bottom of the headrest, which should be at or just above the shoulder. LATCH and tether are optional in booster mode. If you skip them, the empty seat must be buckled in with the vehicle belt.
Soft goods can be hand washed, or machine washed in cold water on a delicate cycle with mild detergent, then hung to dry. Shoulder pads are hand washed only. The harness is sponge cleaned with warm water and mild soap and never machine washed. LATCH straps get warm water only and cannot be replaced, so do not remove them. The cup holders go on the top rack of a dishwasher. No bleach, solvents or household cleaners, and no soap or lubricant on the buckle, harness adjuster or LATCH hardware. Never use the seat without its pad.
Is the OneFit LX ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
OneFit LX ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat: common questions
What are the OneFit LX weight and height limits?
Rear-facing is 5 to 40 lb and no taller than 43 in, with the newborn positioner for 5 to 11 lb. Forward-facing harness is for children at least one year old, 26.5 to 65 lb and no taller than 54 in. Booster mode is 40 to 100 lb from age 4.
Yes, in harness mode only, on forward-facing aircraft seats. The lap belt goes through the blue rear-facing or red forward-facing path, and the manual says never to use LeverLock on an aircraft. Booster mode is not certified for aircraft.
Only forward-facing. The manual limits rear-facing LATCH to children up to 35 lb and forward-facing LATCH to 40 lb. Above those weights, install it with the vehicle seat belt.
What is the difference between the OneFit LX and the OneFit Max?
Chicco lists the OneFit Max with the same 5 to 40 lb rear-facing, 26.5 to 65 lb forward-facing and 40 to 100 lb booster ranges, at 19.5 in wide and 27.0 lb. Its page adds a magnetic chest clip, harness pockets and 20% more rear-facing legroom compared to other OneFit seats.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Chicco lists 3 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Chicco so you hear about the next one.
