Who the OneFit Max ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat fits
This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Chicco gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.
Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb · Up to 43 in
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness26.5 to 65 lb · Up to 54 in · from 12 months
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
High-back booster40 to 100 lb · 44 to 57 in · from 4 years
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the OneFit Max ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat installs
Lower anchors
SuperCinch LATCH. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Recline
8 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position headrest/harness height adjust. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
At 19.5 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 27 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Certified for aircraft use, so it can travel as a seat rather than checked baggage.

What to know before you live with it
What the Max adds over the OneFit LX
Chicco's page lists a magnetic chest clip, a flex-forward crotch buckle and harness pockets for easier loading, and says the seat has 20% more rear-facing legroom compared to other OneFit seats. The page also lists a LeverLock self-tensioning lock for forward-facing seat belt installs, a SuperCinch LATCH tightener for rear-facing installs, 8 recline positions, 10 headrest positions, a removable newborn positioner for 5 to 11 lb and dishwasher-safe cup holders. Its ranges are 5 to 40 lb rear-facing, 26.5 to 65 lb forward-facing and 40 to 100 lb in booster mode.
Rear-facing, the LATCH strap slides to the blue opening and is tightened with the adjuster (Pull 1st) and the SuperCinch strap (Pull 2nd). The manual stops rear-facing LATCH use above 35 lb. Forward-facing, the strap moves to the red opening and is limited to 40 lb, and the top tether is always used if your car has an anchor. A forward-facing seat belt install must be locked with LeverLock. On a slope, only recline positions 7 or 8 are allowed forward-facing. Either way, the seat should not move more than 1 in at the belt path.
Before seating the child, slide each buckle tongue into the pocket on its side of the seat to keep the straps clear. The headrest moves the harness: straps at or below the shoulders rear-facing and at or above them forward-facing. The manual says not to fold the seat back panel when the headrest is in its lowest position. The crotch strap must move to the front position when the seat turns forward-facing. Tighten until you cannot pinch a fold in the strap at the shoulder, with the chest clip level with the armpits, and skip bulky coats.
Booster mode is for children at least 4 years old and 40 to 100 lb who can sit still. LATCH and tether are optional; if you skip them, the empty seat must be buckled in. On a plane the seat is certified in harness mode only, on forward-facing aircraft seats, and LeverLock must not be used there. Fabrics can be hand washed or machine washed cold on a delicate cycle and hung to dry. The harness is sponge cleaned only, and the cup holders go on the top rack of a dishwasher.
Is the OneFit Max ClearTex All-in-One Car Seat recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Chicco lists 2 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Chicco so you hear about the next one.
