Who is the Sela All-in-One Convertible Car Seat for?
The Maxi-Cosi Sela is an all-in-one seat: rear-facing from 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 inches, forward-facing with harness from 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 inches, and a high-back booster from 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 52 inches. It installs with rigid LATCH or the vehicle belt and expires after 10 years.
Reasons to consider it
Rigid LATCH connectors with red-to-green indicators, rear- and forward-facing
A built-in lockoff arm for vehicle belt installs
8 recline positions, 4 rear-facing and 4 forward-facing
Aircraft certification when used with the internal harness
Things to weigh up
Rigid LATCH is limited to 35 lb rear-facing and 40 lb forward-facing
Not certified for aircraft as a booster
Does not rotate, unlike the Andi 360
Neither the product page nor the manual gives a width
My take on the Sela All-in-One Convertible Car Seat
The Sela suits families who want one seat from birth to booster with rigid LATCH and a belt lockoff, and who do not need rotation. It is certified for aircraft with the harness. The Andi 360 shares its limits and adds rotation, but Maxi-Cosi lists it at 40.52 lb against 27.25 lb for the Sela, and it is not certified for aircraft.

Who the Sela All-in-One Convertible Car Seat fits
This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Maxi-Cosi gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.
Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb · 19 to 40 in
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness30 to 65 lb · 34.4 to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
Belt-positioning booster (high-back)40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 52 in
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the Sela All-in-One Convertible Car Seat installs
Rigid LATCH
Rigid LATCH. Rigid connectors click straight onto the vehicle's lower anchor bars, which removes the strap slack that causes loose installs.
Belt lock-off
Built-in belt lock-off. A lock-off clamps the vehicle belt so you do not have to switch the belt's retractor into its locked mode.
Recline
8 recline positions (4 rear-facing, 4 forward-facing). The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position no-rethread headrest/harness. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
Maxi-Cosi does not publish a width for this seat, so measure your back seat and compare it with the seat in a store before buying. It weighs 27.25 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Certified for aircraft use, so it can travel as a seat rather than checked baggage.

What to know before you live with it
Rigid LATCH, the belt and the tether
Install with the rigid LATCH connectors or the vehicle belt, never both. The manual limits rigid LATCH to children up to 35 lb rear-facing and up to 40 lb forward-facing; past those weights, use the vehicle belt. Forward-facing belt installs route the belt behind the lockoff arm, which you reach by folding up the headrest pad. The tether is not used rear-facing and stays in storage, but forward-facing it must be attached and tightened when anchors are available. The seat must not move more than 1 inch at the belt path.
The Sela has eight recline positions. Rear-facing uses positions 1 to 4, set as close to the rear-facing level line as possible, and the manual says never to use positions 5 to 8 rear-facing. For children 5 to 30 lb, the seat may be slightly more reclined but not more upright than the level line shows. For children 30 to 40 lb who can sit up unassisted, install it as close to the level line as possible. Forward-facing uses only positions 5 to 8, and booster mode uses only position 8, fully upright.
Rear-facing, the head must be at least 1 inch below the top of the headrest, with straps at or slightly below the shoulders. Forward-facing, the ears must be below the headrest top and the straps at or slightly above the shoulders. In booster mode, stop if the ears pass the headrest top. The seat pad machine washes separately on a gentle cold cycle and tumble dries for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. A seat pad tool, stored behind the tether door, helps tuck the pad back in.
Is the Sela All-in-One Convertible Car Seat recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
Sela All-in-One Convertible Car Seat: common questions
What are the Sela weight and height limits?
Rear-facing 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 inches, forward-facing 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 inches, and belt-positioning booster 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 52 inches.
The manual says it is certified for aircraft use with the internal harness. It is not certified as a booster, because aircraft seats have no shoulder belts.
The Andi 360 has the same three modes and limits but swivels on its base in both rear- and forward-facing modes, to make loading easier. A connection cord keeps the seat and base together when installed.
Answers refer to the model and manual version on this page. Check the instructions supplied with your seat.
Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Maxi-Cosi lists 3 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Maxi-Cosi so you hear about the next one.
