Rear-facing, the backrest should sit at 35 to 45 degrees from vertical. When the line on the seat is horizontal, the angle is 45 degrees, and a rolled towel or pool noodle can help. LATCH is for children up to 40 lb. With a lap and shoulder belt, both parts thread through the openings under the seat, and the belt must be locked. The lock-off clips add stability but, the manual says, do not replace a locking retractor or locking clip. A lap belt with an emergency locking retractor only is not usable. The seat should move no more than 1 inch at the anchors.

The anti-rebound bar stores under the base. The manual says using it is not mandatory, but it adds stability and protects in a rear collision or rebound. You rotate it out until it clicks and rest the bar against the vehicle seat back. A separate spacer, stored on the rear of the base, snaps onto the bar to give the child's legs more room. When you stow the bar, the spacer goes back in its own housing. Forward-facing, the bar must be stowed and the infant cushion removed. The top tether is recommended in all forward-facing installs, for a child up to 65 lb.

A ring on top of the headrest unlocks the head panel, which carries the harness up or down. Only the lower 7 of the 10 positions may be used rear-facing; positions 8, 9 and 10 are for forward-facing. Rear-facing, the straps sit at or just below the shoulders and the head stays at least 1 inch below the headrest edge. Forward-facing, they sit at or just above, and the head may be no more than 1 inch above the edge. Tighten with the adjuster strap at the bottom of the seat and leave one finger width between the harness and the child. The infant cushion is for rear-facing only.

To take the cover off, you raise the head panel, unhook the shoulder straps from the metal plate at the back and pull them through. The head padding comes off, then the seat cover lifts past the crotch strap and shoulder belts. The manual warns not to bend or break the white EPS side wings. When refitting, the shoulder straps must reconnect to the rear plate and the central adjuster strap must pass behind the plastic shield. The fabric can be machine washed at a maximum of 90 F (30 C) on a delicate setting with a short spin. No bleach, dry cleaning, solvents or tumble drying.

No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
Rear-facing: 5 to 45 lb with the vehicle belt or 5 to 40 lb with LATCH, up to 47 inches. Forward-facing: 26.5 to 65 lb with the belt or 26.5 to 45 lb with LATCH, up to 49 inches. The manual says never to turn it forward before 26.5 lb.

The manual says not to use it after 10 years from the date of purchase. Without proof of purchase, go by the production date on the seat's label.

The manual says it is certified for motor vehicles and aircraft, installed with the aircraft lap belt rear-facing or forward-facing, and the lock-off clips are not needed. It suggests contacting the airline before booking because of the seat's size and weight.
