What to know before you live with it

Install options

The manual covers the base installed with the vehicle belt or the lower anchor belt, and the carrier installed with the vehicle belt without the base. Never use both at once. The base should not move more than 1 inch at the belt path. A sliding latch plate with an emergency locking retractor needs a locking clip, which is in the parts list. The level line must be correct, and if the child cannot sit up unassisted the seat may be slightly more reclined than the line shows. A base foot lowers or stores with a release button.

Inserts and harness fit

The manual describes two insert types. The basic infant insert is removed by taking the harness straps off the splitter plate and pulling them through the top slots. The deluxe insert uses fastening strips and fits behind the harness straps. Either may be removed for bigger infants and must not cover the face. The head must be at least 1 inch below the top of the headrest, and the manual includes harness and buckle adjustments for smaller infants.
