The UPPAbaby Alta V2 is a high-back booster for children from 40 to 100 lb and 38 to 57 inches, used only with a vehicle lap and shoulder belt. Its rigid lower anchors hold the booster in place but do not restrain the child. It must never be used without the backrest, and it is not certified for aircraft.
The Alta V2 suits a child who has outgrown a harnessed seat and is ready for the vehicle belt, with a lap belt positioner to help the belt sit on the thighs. The main limits are that it has no backless mode and it cannot go on a plane. The Rove harnesses a child forward-facing up to 65 lb and 49 inches, while the Alta V2 starts at 40 lb and 38 inches.

The back of the booster must sit tightly against the vehicle seat back, and the front must not hang over the edge. If the vehicle head restraint cannot be adjusted or removed, the manual says to use another seating position or another booster. To use lower anchors, pull the release handle at the front, rotate the rigid connectors 180 degrees and push them onto both anchors until each indicator shows green. The manual specifies standard anchor spacing of 11 inches. Without lower anchors, store the connectors and buckle the empty booster in with the lap and shoulder belt.

Set the headrest just above the top of the child's shoulders, and keep the ears below the top of the headrest. Route the shoulder belt across the chest, then the lap and shoulder belt through the red lower belt path under the armrest on the buckle side. Buckle, then slide the shoulder belt fully under the red shoulder belt guide hook. The lap belt must lie flat on the upper thighs, not the abdomen. UPPAbaby strongly recommends hooking the red lap belt positioner over it and tightening its strap. Never put the shoulder belt under the arm.

The seat cover comes off by releasing the elastic at the red belt guides, unsnapping the two buttons at the back and pulling the lap belt positioner under the fabric. The headrest cover pulls out of the slot around the edge and the slot at the top. Before washing, take the fabric tool out of the back panel, because you need it to refit the cover. The seat, headrest and positioner covers machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and dry flat away from direct sunlight. Positioner webbing and plastics are spot cleaned only.
