How the Liing installs

What to know before you live with it
Three ways to install it
The base installs with its LATCH connectors or with the vehicle belt, never both. The manual calls the load leg strongly recommended, and if it cannot be used it recommends a vehicle belt install of the base instead. LATCH is only for seating positions with standard anchor spacing of 11 in. Without the base, a lap and shoulder belt goes through both blue lap belt guides and the shoulder belt wraps behind the carrier through the blue shoulder belt guide. A lap-only belt goes through the lap belt guides alone. The blue recline line on the carrier must be level with the ground.
Recline and newborn fit
The base has a recline sled with a bubble indicator, and the manual says to choose the most reclined position that keeps the bubble in the range for the child's weight. A child over 22 lb who cannot sit upright unassisted stays in the 11 to 30 lb range until they can. The vehicle must be on level ground when you check. The newborn support cushion must be used for babies 11 lb or less whose shoulders sit below the lowest of the three harness slots. The seat ships with the harness in the middle slot, and the straps must come from the slot at or just below the shoulders.
Carrying, strollers and the handle
The carry handle has three positions: upright, stowed and ground. In the car it must be locked upright, and outside the car it must be locked upright before you lift the carrier. The manual says the carrier fits most strollers that have Maxi-Cosi car seat adapters, but only with strollers or adapters approved for this seat, and the child must face the stroller handle. Off the stroller, the carrier belongs on the floor, never on a raised or soft surface or on top of a shopping cart.
Washing the fabrics
The carrier cover, headrest and newborn support cushion can be spot cleaned or hand washed in mild detergent and water, with no bleach or fabric softener, then hung to dry. The carrier cover and newborn cushion may also go in the washing machine on a gentle cycle and be hung to dry. The headrest must never be machine washed, and nothing goes in the dryer. The harness straps are only surface washed with a damp cloth, and the buckle is rinsed under warm water without detergent or lubricant.
