Who is the Liingo for?

The Clek Liingo is a rear-facing infant car seat sold without a base, for babies from 4 to 30 lb who are 32 in or less, with the head at least 1 in below the top of the carrier. It installs with its own LATCH belt or a vehicle belt, and it expires 9 years after manufacture.

Reasons to consider it

Rideshares and frequent car swaps, since no base is needed

My take on the Liingo

The Liingo suits parents who move the seat between cars, rideshares and taxis, because the LATCH belt lives in a bin on the carrier. The trade-off is that without a base, every install is a belt install with no recline adjuster: you level the carrier by positioning it, with a rolled towel or pool noodle if needed. The Liing has the same limits but adds a base with a load leg and a recline sled.

How the Liingo installs

Lower anchors: Built-in LATCH connectors (no base). Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

Will it fit your car?

At 16.9 in at its widest, this seat is one of the narrower ones in its class and is a candidate for three across in many mid-size cars. It weighs 9 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Certified for aircraft use, so it can travel as a seat rather than checked baggage.

What to know before you live with it

How the built-in LATCH belt works

The LATCH belt is stored in a bin at the back of the carrier. For a LATCH install it is routed through both blue LATCH and lap belt guides. With a vehicle lap and shoulder belt, the lap belt goes through the same guides and the shoulder belt wraps behind the carrier through the blue shoulder belt guide. A lap-only belt goes through the guides alone. The carrier should move no more than 1 in at the belt path. When it is used as a carrier, the manual says to always store the LATCH belt back in its bin.

Getting the angle right without a base

There is no recline sled. You position the carrier so the blue recline reference line on its side is parallel with the ground, loosening the belt slightly to adjust. The manual says a rolled towel or pool noodle may be placed under the foot end if needed. If it still cannot be installed securely, it suggests another seating position or a vehicle belt install. The newborn support cushion is required for babies 11 lb or less whose shoulders sit below the lowest harness slots, and the headrest must always be used.

Adding a Liing base later

The Liingo can sit on a Liing base, which is sold separately, but the LATCH bin must come off first or the carrier will not secure to the base. Removal uses two screws and the supplied removal tool or a T-20 Torx screwdriver. The manual warns never to install the carrier with the LATCH belt while the bin is off. With the bin removed, a vehicle belt install still works. On an aircraft, the carrier is certified only without the Liing base, installed with the lap-only belt method.

What are the Clek Liingo height and weight limits?

The manual gives 4 to 30 lb and 32 in or less, with the top of the head at least 1 in below the top of the carrier. It is rear-facing only.

How heavy is the Liingo carrier?

Clek lists 9 lb with the LATCH bin and newborn insert removed. It does not publish a weight with the bin attached. The carrier is 16.9 in wide, 27.7 in deep and 26.8 in high.

Does the Liingo come with a base?

No. Clek lists the Liingo infant seat, the owner's manual and a warranty registration card in the box. A Liing base is not included.

Will the Liingo fit my stroller?

The manual says it fits most strollers with Maxi-Cosi car seat adapters, but only with strollers or adapters approved for this seat. Clek keeps the approved list on its website.
