The rigid LATCH connectors sit in the booster's base. The manual says LATCH is for added stability only, but recommends it. With it, the booster stays in the correct position relative to the vehicle belt's attachment points. You pull the front handle to eject the connectors, click them onto the anchors, and check the green signals. Squeeze the handle again and push the booster back so the release buttons disappear. In a seat without anchors, leave the connectors inside and place the booster facing forward. If the belt buckle and anchors overlap, using both may not be possible.
The child is held only by the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt, adjusted snug and flat. The manual says to remove bulky jackets first. The adjustable shoulder clip stores under the seat fabric. You lift the rear of the cover, take the clip out, pass it through the handle and pull the strap out from under the seat. Press the button behind the booster to extend the strap, slip the shoulder belt into the clip, then pull the belt to lower the clip. The manual gives the clip's correct height as just above shoulder level, 1 inch (2.5 cm).
All the upholstered covers can be machine washed at 87 F (30 C). You unhook the eyelets from the side buttons, release the plastic hooks from the base and lift the cover off, then refit it from the front. Clean plastic parts with a damp cloth, take care not to break the white EPS, and keep water off the latching mechanisms. The cup holder fits on a button on either side. A handle at the rear is used to carry it. The manual says not to use it after 12 years from purchase.
