Who is the GoFit Backless Booster Car Seat for?
The Chicco GoFit is a backless booster for children at least 4 years old, 40 to 110 lb and 44 to 57 in tall, whose ears are below the vehicle seat back or head restraint. It has no LATCH: the vehicle lap and shoulder belt holds both child and seat. Chicco lists it at 5 lb, and expiry is a dated label.
Reasons to consider it
A light backless booster, listed at 5 lb in standard fabric
A built-in carry handle for moving between vehicles
Lap belt guides and a shoulder positioning clip stored under the seat
Covers and armrest pads that come off for machine washing
Things to weigh up
No LATCH, so it must be buckled in even when empty
No back or headrest; the vehicle seat back has to be tall enough for the ears
The ClearTex version is listed at 6 lb rather than 5 lb
No published expiry period in years, and not certified for aircraft
My take on the GoFit Backless Booster Car Seat
The GoFit suits an older child who already fits a backless booster and a family that moves the seat between cars, since it has a carry handle and Chicco lists it at 5 lb. The main trade-off is that it has no LATCH, so the empty seat must be buckled in with the vehicle belt. The GoFit Plus has the same limits and size but adds quick-release LATCH and is listed at 6 lb.

Who the GoFit Backless Booster Car Seat fits
This seat covers one stage. Check the date label on the shell before using a hand-me-down; every seat has an expiry.

Only the base is left, so the vehicle seat has to support the child’s back and head, and the belt guide sits at the hip.

Will it fit your car?
At 17 in at its widest, this seat is one of the narrower ones in its class and is a candidate for three across in many mid-size cars. It weighs 5 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Not certified for aircraft use: plan on gate-checking it or using a different seat to fly.

What to know before you live with it
Using it without LATCH
The GoFit has no lower anchor connectors. You take the shoulder positioning clip and strap from under the seat, place the booster on a forward-facing vehicle seat with a 3-point belt, and seat the child with their back against the vehicle seat back. The lap belt goes under the first armrest and both belt parts under the armrest nearest the buckle. When nobody is in it, the manual says to secure the booster with the lap-shoulder belt so it cannot injure other passengers in a sudden stop or crash.
The GoFit has no back or headrest, and the manual requires the child's ears to be below the vehicle seat back or head restraint. The shoulder positioning clip slides up or down its strap so it sits at the child's shoulder, and it stays in use until the belt lies flat across the center of the shoulder on its own. The manual also forbids anything placed under the booster to raise it, such as a noodle or towel.
Remove both cup holders with the release button underneath, flip the seat and unhook 8 elastic loops. Take the insert out of the cover before washing and put it back before refitting, tucking the fabric around the orange belt guides. Armrest pads lift off with a release button under the front edge. Fabrics can be hand washed or machine washed cold on a delicate cycle with mild detergent, then hung to dry. The manual says the booster must never be used without its fabric cover or armrest covers.
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
At least 4 years old, 40 to 110 lb and 44 to 57 in tall, with the ears below the vehicle seat back or head restraint. The child must also sit relatively still with the belt correctly placed for the whole ride.
No. The GoFit product page lists LATCH as n/a. The features it lists are lap belt guides, a shoulder belt clip, a built-in carry handle and two removable cup holders.
Its page lists the same 40 to 110 lb and 44 to 57 in limits and the same 15 in x 17 in x 8.5 in size, but a weight of 6 lb. Chicco says ClearTex fabrics have no flame retardant chemicals and are GREENGUARD Gold Certified for low chemical emissions.
The manual and the usage text on the product page say 44 to 57 in. An installation video description on the same page says 38 to 57 inches, so I would follow the 44 in minimum in the manual and on the seat label.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Chicco lists 4 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Chicco so you hear about the next one.
