The Clek Ozzi is a backless belt-positioning booster for children from 40 to 120 lb and 40 to 57 in who are at least 4 years old. It uses the vehicle lap and shoulder belt, attaches with rigid LATCH, weighs 5 lb, and expires 9 years after manufacture.

My take on the Ozzi

The Ozzi suits an older child who already fits a lap and shoulder belt and sits in a vehicle seat tall enough to reach above their ears. It is the plainer of Clek's two backless boosters: the shared manual marks the quick-release strap and drink-thingy cup holder as Olli only, so the Ozzi unlatches with a button on each connector. Clek lists one colorway, a carbon jersey knit.

How the Ozzi installs

Rigid LATCH: Rigid LATCH. Rigid connectors click straight onto the vehicle's lower anchor bars, which removes the strap slack that causes loose installs.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

Will it fit your car?

At 18 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 5 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Not certified for aircraft use: plan on gate-checking it or using a different seat to fly.

What to know before you live with it

When a child is ready for it

The manual sets 40 to 120 lb, 40 to 57 in and at least 4 years, and every limit applies. The tops of the ears must be below the top of the vehicle seat back or a fully deployed head restraint. The lap belt sits low and snug on the hips, and the shoulder belt crosses the middle of the chest and shoulder. The manual says a child who cannot stay still enough to keep the belt in place should move to a harness seat.

Installing and removing it

The manual says to always secure the booster to the vehicle's LATCH anchors if available, and it can still be used without them when the child is properly belted. Press the connectors onto the lower anchors until each clicks, then pull forward to check. Do not latch it if the seat belt or buckle becomes hard to reach. To remove the Ozzi, press the red button on one connector with your thumb, pull the booster forward, and repeat on the other side.

Washing the cover

The cover comes off the frame after the fastening strips are released. Set the foam pad aside, since it must not be washed, and re-attach all fastening strips before washing. Machine wash the cover separately in cold water at 80F/30C on a gentle cycle. Do not bleach, iron or dry-clean, and lay it flat to dry.

Is the Ozzi recalled?

22C002000: covers this model. Campaign 22C002000 covers Ozzi model OZ11U2 made March 1, 2020 to May 10, 2022, which lack the continuous-loop belt installation diagram. This Ozzi carries model number OZ11U2-JB, so seats from that build window are inside the recall; seats made after May 10, 2022 have the diagram. Campaign source (read October 7, 2026).

NHTSA currently lists one campaign naming this Clek family: 22C002000. A campaign names a family, not always every build, so check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture against the campaign itself.
