The Chase Plus is forward-facing only. You secure it with either the lower anchor connectors or the vehicle seat belt through the belt path, never both, and the manual says to always attach the top tether in harness mode. If the tether is too short, Evenflo's ParentLink supplies an extender. A locking clip may be needed with some older belts. Check that the seat moves less than 1 in at the belt path. The harness straps go at or slightly above the shoulders, and moving them means rethreading through matching slots in the pad and shell.
The harness stage ends once a child exceeds 40 lb or 43.3 in, the ear tops pass the top of the headrest, or the shoulders pass the highest harness level. The child then moves to booster mode, but only if at least 5 years old and 40 lb; otherwise the manual says to stop using the seat. Booster mode runs to 100 lb and 57 in. One readiness sign the manual lists is a child mature enough not to put the belts under the arm or behind the back.
Use the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt, never a lap belt alone. The lap belt sits low and snug on the hips, and the shoulder belt must cross midway between the neck and shoulder. The belt passes under the headrest while the child's shoulders are at or below the opening between the headrest and shell. If the shoulders are high enough that this pulls the belt down behind them, the belt goes over the headrest instead, as long as the ears are still at or below its top. You may also attach the lower anchors and tether if they do not change the belt fit.

Machine wash the seat pad separately in cold water on a delicate cycle and tumble dry 10 to 15 minutes on low heat. Wipe the harness with mild soap and water and let it air dry.

Evenflo lists the Maestro Sport with a 5-point harness to 50 lb, at 19 in wide and 9.6 lb. The Chase Plus harness stops at 40 lb, and the seat is listed at 21.9 in wide.
The manual gives no number of years. It refers to an expiration date on the date of manufacture label and says to stop using the seat after that date or after a crash.
