Who is the Revolve180 LiteMax NXT Rotating Infant Car Seat for?

The Revolve180 LiteMax NXT is a rear-facing infant car seat whose base lets the carrier turn 180 degrees for loading. Evenflo lists it for 3 to 30 lb and 15.7 to 32 in, with the head at least 1 in below the seat back, an 8.6 lb carrier, 14.6 lb with the base, and a 10-year life.

Reasons to consider it

  • One-hand 180 degree rotation for getting the baby in and out
  • SensorSafe alerts for four conditions
  • A published 10-year life from the date of manufacture
  • Compatibility with the SafeZone load leg, sold separately

Things to weigh up

  • The manual linked from this page is the non-rotating LiteMax NXT manual
  • Evenflo does not state aircraft use on this page
  • The carrier and base together weigh 14.6 lb
  • Listed at 17.83 in wide and 27.32 in deep

My take on the Revolve180 LiteMax NXT Rotating Infant Car Seat

This seat suits a parent who wants to turn the carrier toward the door to load the baby, especially with tight back-seat space, and wants SensorSafe alerts. Evenflo lists the carrier and base at 14.6 lb together, an estimate that varies by fabric. Compared with the SensorySoothe Revolve180, it has no light-and-sound handle, and Evenflo does not mention SecureTight on this page.

What to know before you live with it

What Evenflo publishes for this version

The product page lists a 3 to 30 lb weight range, a 15.7 to 32 in height range and the rule that the head stays at least 1 in below the top of the seat back. The assembled size is 17.83 in wide, 27.32 in deep and 26.77 in high. The page's Q&A gives 8.6 lb for the carrier alone and 14.6 lb for carrier plus base, as an estimate that varies by fabric. It also says the seat has a 10-year expiration from the date of manufacture, printed on labels under the carrier and on the base.

How rotation works, per the Revolve 180 manual

This page links the standard LiteMax NXT manual, which does not cover rotation. The Revolve 180 LiteMax NXT manual, linked from the SensorySoothe version's page, describes the rotating LockStrong tray. A grey button unlocks it, the lock indicator turns red while it can rotate, and the seat turns back to rear-facing until the indicator shows green. The manual says the side-facing position is only for putting the child in and out, never to rotate while the vehicle is moving, and to travel only with the tray locked rear-facing. I would confirm that the manual in your box matches this design.

Cleaning, from the product page

Evenflo's page says the seat pad is machine washed separately in cold water on a delicate cycle and tumble dried for 10 to 15 minutes on low heat. The harness is wiped with mild soap and water and air dried. The crotch buckle is cleaned by swishing it in a cup of warm water while pressing the red button, without soap, detergent or lubricant, and without submerging the harness strap. Plastic and metal parts are wiped with mild soap and water. The page lists batteries as included and required.

Before you buy

  1. Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
  2. Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Evenflo lists 5 colors of this seat.
  3. Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
  4. Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Evenflo so you hear about the next one.
