An infant car seat with one mode: rear-facing infant 4 to 30 lb, up to 32 in.

The Graco SnugRide SnugFit DLX featuring Safety Surround is a rear-facing-only infant seat that Graco lists for 4 to 30 lb and up to 32 in, with the head at least 1 in below the top. It pairs the SnugFit DLX base, with SnugLock and an anti-rebound bar, with Graco's Safety Surround side-impact feature, and expires after 7 years.
It suits parents who want the SnugFit DLX installation features plus the Safety Surround feature Graco adds on this version. Graco describes Safety Surround as side-impact technology for the head; the manual does not describe it, and I make no crash-safety claim about it. Graco lists this version at 29 in deep, against 27.5 in for the plain SnugFit DLX, and publishes a 16.2 lb product weight but no figure for the carrier alone.

This seat covers one stage. Graco gives it a 7-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.

A child must meet every limit for the mode they use. The labels on your seat and its manual are the final word.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

At 17.5 in at its widest, this seat is one of the narrower ones in its class and is a candidate for three across in many mid-size cars.
Jacks.
Graco's page lists the same features as the SnugFit DLX: SnugLock installation with the seat belt or LATCH, InRight LATCH connectors, an anti-rebound bar, a 5-position base with a bubble level indicator, a no-rethread harness, infant head and body supports, the Silent Shade canopy and the Rapid Remove seat pad. It adds Safety Surround, which Graco describes as side-impact technology for head protection. Graco lists the seat at 17.5 in wide, 25.5 in high and 29 in deep.

The base installs with the LATCH strap or the vehicle seat belt, never both. You push it back until the anti-rebound bar touches the vehicle seat back, open the SnugLock lock-off, route the strap or the lap part of the belt through the rear-facing belt path with the blue label, above the notches near the lock-off, then press down on the base, remove the slack and close the lock-off until it clicks. The manual says the retractor does not need switching when the lock-off holds the belt. A center seat may take LATCH only if the vehicle manual allows it and the anchors are 11 in or more apart. At least 80% of the base must be on the vehicle seat, with less than 1 in of movement at the belt path. The manual gives no separate child-weight limit for the lower anchors.

The base has 5 recline positions, set by squeezing the recline lever and lifting the base to extend the foot. On level ground, the bubble must be entirely under the light blue line for infants 0+ months or entirely under the dark blue line for 3+ months. A rolled towel may go under the fully extended foot if the reading is still wrong. The carrier can also be installed alone with a lap or lap-shoulder belt that you lock, and its red level line must then be level with the ground.

Harness straps go at or just below the shoulders, and the top of the head must be at least 1 in below the top of the seat. Harness height changes by squeezing the headrest adjustment button and moving the headrest, with the baby out of the seat. For smaller babies, the headrest flap can be tucked under the support to shorten it. The body support is only for infants 12 lb or less. The handle has 4 positions and must be upright in position A when carrying.

Each campaign naming this family was read against this model’s numbers and build dates, and none covers it. Still check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use, especially on a used seat.

The carrier can. The manual certifies it for aircraft only without the base, on forward-facing aircraft seats, following the vehicle lap belt installation. The base is not certified for aircraft.

You unsnap the canopy, pull the headrest pad away, undo the 4 snaps and pull out the 4 plastic side flaps. Machine wash the pad and canopy in cold water with gentle soap on a delicate cycle and drip dry, with no bleach. The harness and LATCH strap are surface washed only.
