My take on the Comfort Ride 3-in-1 Booster Car Seat
It suits a child who already rides forward-facing and will need a booster later, with a manual that covers every mode. The trade-offs are LATCH, which stops at a 55 lb child in harness mode, and aircraft use, which is certified only with the internal harness. The Boost-and-Go Essential page lists the same ranges but links no manual.

Who the Comfort Ride 3-in-1 Booster Car Seat fits
This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Safety 1st gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.
Forward-facing harness booster30 to 65 lb · 34.4 to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
Belt-positioning booster (high-back)40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 57 in
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.
Backless booster40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 57 in
Only the base is left, so the vehicle seat has to support the child’s back and head, and the belt guide sits at the hip.

Safety 1st does not publish a width for this seat, so measure your back seat and compare it with the seat in a store before buying.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.

What to know before you live with it
Harness mode: the tether and the 55 lb LATCH limit
In harness mode the manual lists 3 installs: lap and shoulder belt with tether, lap belt with tether, both for a child up to 65 lb, and the lower anchor belt with tether, which must not be used for a child over 55 lb. When anchors are available, the tether must always be attached. The vehicle seat back must be upright, and if a vehicle headrest stops the seat sitting flush, the manual points you to the vehicle manual. The tops of the ears must stay below the top of the seat's headrest.
To use booster mode, the harness system is removed and stored, and the headrest goes to its highest position during the change. The manual says to use only the vehicle lap and shoulder belt, never the lap belt alone. The shoulder belt threads through the guide in the headrest and goes under the armrest on the buckle side. Do not use the booster if the child's head is less than 5 in below the roof, or if the tops of the ears are above the booster's headrest. Keep it belted in even when empty.
The backrest lifts off after the harness system is removed. Rotate it all the way back until it clicks twice, then lift it out. In backless mode the tops of the ears must not be above the vehicle seat back or vehicle headrest. The manual notes that a backless booster has no back or headrest, so any head protection depends on the vehicle. The lap belt runs under both armrests. A belt-positioning clip is used only if needed, on the buckle side, and is ordered from Consumer Care.
The manual says to turn the seat pad inside-out before machine washing, wash it separately in cold water on a gentle cycle without bleach, and tumble dry separately for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. Harness straps are spot cleaned with warm sudsy water. The cup holder twists out and is top-rack dishwasher safe. A date of manufacture label is on the bottom of the seat, and the seat should not be used more than 10 years after that date.

Comfort Ride 3-in-1 Booster Car Seat: common questions
What are the Comfort Ride 3-in-1 limits?
Harness mode is 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 in. Both the high-back and backless boosters are 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 57 in, and the child moves on when they outgrow any one limit or fit requirement.
In harness mode, yes, with the tether, but the manual says not to use the lower anchors for a child weighing more than 55 lb. Above that, install with the vehicle belt and tether, which the manual allows up to 65 lb.
The manual says it is certified for aircraft use with the internal harness, on forward-facing aircraft seats, skipping the tether steps. It is not certified as a booster because aircraft seats have no shoulder belts.
How is it different from the Boost-and-Go Essential?
The Boost-and-Go Essential page lists the same ranges: 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 in with the harness, 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 57 in as a booster. Its page links only an installation video, not a manual.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Safety 1st lists 2 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Safety 1st so you hear about the next one.
