Who is the Store 'n Go Sport Booster Car Seat for?

The Store 'n Go Sport is a belt-positioning booster for children 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 57 in, used high-back or backless with the same limits. It has a pull-out storage drawer under the seat, a cup holder and side storage. It expires 10 years after manufacture and is not certified for aircraft use.

Reasons to consider it

  • High-back and backless modes at 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 57 in
  • A latching storage drawer under the seat, plus a cup holder and side storage
  • Two shoulder belt-positioning guides behind the headrest pad
  • A seat pad that is machine washable on a gentle cycle

Things to weigh up

  • The manual says to use the drawer only for the child's gear and keep it closed
  • Width, depth, weight and the number of headrest positions are not published
  • No LATCH, so it must stay belted even when empty
  • Not certified for aircraft use, because aircraft seats lack shoulder belts

My take on the Store 'n Go Sport Booster Car Seat

The Store 'n Go Sport suits a booster-age child when keeping snacks and small items within reach matters, with a backless mode for later. The trade-off is that its headrest position count, width and weight are not published, and the manual says a belt-positioning clip for backless use may need to be ordered separately. The Disney Baby Pronto has the same 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 57 in limits, with a slide-out cup holder instead of a drawer.

Who the Store 'n Go Sport Booster Car Seat fits

This seat covers 2 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Safety 1st gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.

The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.
Backless booster40 to 100 lb · 43.4 to 57 in
Only the base is left, so the vehicle seat has to support the child’s back and head, and the belt guide sits at the hip.

What to know before you live with it

Setting up the backrest and headrest

Depending on the model, the pad may need fitting first: a plastic snap strip goes into the front of the base pad, which then locks into the base with elastic straps underneath. The headrest slides into a track on the backrest, and the two must always be used together. The backrest hooks into a slot in the base while lying flat, then rotates up until it clicks, and can be rotated to sit flush with the vehicle seat back. The headrest has multiple positions; push down on top while pulling out the adjustment lock, then check it is locked.

High-back fit and belt routing

Place the booster flush against an upright vehicle seat back. The top of the child's ears must not be above the headrest, and the head must be at least 5 in below the roof. Adjust the headrest so the shoulder belt-positioning guide sits slightly above the shoulders. The lap portion goes under both armrests and across the upper thighs, and the shoulder belt goes under the buckle-side armrest only. The shoulder belt may need to go through one of the two guides behind the headrest pad. Keep the booster belted through the guide even when empty.

Backless mode and the drawer

To remove the backrest, push the backrest lock tab up, lay the seat flat, and lift the backrest hook out of the base. Backless limits stay 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 57 in, with the ears no higher than the vehicle seat's headrest. If the shoulder belt lies wrong, the manual says to refit the backrest or order a belt-positioning clip. The drawer opens by squeezing up on its lock and closes by pushing it flush. The manual warns to use the drawer only for the child's gear and to keep it closed when not in use.

Before you buy

  1. Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
  2. Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect.
  3. Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
  4. Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Safety 1st so you hear about the next one.
