The manual gives two sets of limits. With the back, the booster is for children 40 to 100 lb and 43 to 57 in. Without the back, it is for 40 to 110 lb and 43 to 57 in. Both modes require the child to be at least 4 years old. To go backless, recline the seat back and remove it from the base. Without the back, the child sits against the vehicle seat back and their ears must be below the top of the vehicle seat back or headrest.

Graco allows the lower anchor attachment in booster mode regardless of the child's weight up to 110 lb, but the child must still be secured with the vehicle lap and shoulder belt. Press the button on the front of the base and pull the straps out to full length, attach the connectors without twisting the straps, then push on the booster while pulling the straps at the front. If the anchors interfere with the vehicle belts or buckles, or the seat has no anchor bars, store the attachment and buckle the empty booster with the seat belt instead.

With the back on, thread the shoulder belt through the guide in the headrest. Lift the adjustment lever to raise or lower the headrest, then pull up and down to check it is locked in one of its 6 height positions. The belt guides should be even with or just above the shoulders. The lap belt goes in front of both armrests and low across the hips. In backless mode, if the shoulder belt lies outside the red zone, use the belt positioning clip that attaches under the base. The vehicle's headrest should not create a gap between the vehicle seat and the booster.

Follow the seat pad care tag. The cover comes off by releasing its elastic loops and hooks, and the head support cover may also be removed. Sponge with mild soap and cool water, or machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle and drip-dry. Do not use bleach. The lower anchor straps are surface wash only with mild soap and a damp cloth; the manual warns that immersing them in water may weaken them.
