Who is the Disney Baby Jive 2-in-1 Convertible Car Seat for?
The Disney Baby Jive (CC286) is a 2-in-1 convertible seat. Its manual lists rear-facing from 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 in, and forward-facing with the harness from 22 to 65 lb and 29 to 49 in for a child at least 1 year old. It installs with LATCH or a vehicle belt and expires after 10 years.
Reasons to consider it
Forward-facing harness to 65 lb and 49 in
A 2-position recline stand plus level lines for rear-facing
Removable infant head and body pillows, per the product page
Certified for aircraft use, per the manual
Things to weigh up
The page lists forward-facing from 30 lb and 34.4 in; the manual says 22 lb, 29 in and at least 1 year
LATCH lower anchors only up to a 40 lb child; the vehicle belt is required after that
No published seat weight or width
The harness system has to come out before the pad can be removed
My take on the Disney Baby Jive 2-in-1 Convertible Car Seat
The Jive suits a family that wants one seat from birth through a long forward-facing harness stage, up to 65 lb and 49 in. The main caution is that the product page and the manual disagree on when forward-facing may start, so I would follow the manual and labels that come with the seat. Compared with the Scenera Extend, it lists the same rear-facing range but a higher forward-facing ceiling.

How the Disney Baby Jive 2-in-1 Convertible Car Seat installs
Lower anchors
LATCH-equipped. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
Safety 1st does not publish a width for this seat, so measure your back seat and compare it with the seat in a store before buying.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Certified for aircraft use, so it can travel as a seat rather than checked baggage.

Where Safety 1st’s page and manual disagree
Product page: forward-facing 30-65 lbs., 34.4-49 in; Manual: 22-65 lb and 29-49 in, at least 1 year old
When they differ, follow the manual and the labels on your seat.
What to know before you live with it
Two recline positions and level lines
The manual describes 2 positions set with a recline stand under the seat: position 1, reclined, for rear-facing and position 2, upright, for forward-facing. For a rear-facing child from 5 to 22 lb, the bottom level line on the shell must be parallel with the ground. For a child from 22 to 40 lb who can sit up unassisted, start with the bottom line level, then rotate the seat up, but not past the top level line. The manual says the seat must face the rear until the child is at least 1 year old and weighs 22 lb.
The lower anchor belt can be used rear- or forward-facing, but the manual says that if lower anchors are not an option, or the child weighs more than 40 lb, you must install with the vehicle belt. Never use both at once. The tether is for forward-facing only, and when anchors are available it must always be attached and tightened with the internal harness. A finished install should not move more than 1 in at the belt path. Rear-facing, the harness sits at or slightly below the shoulders; forward-facing, at or slightly above.
The head pillow attaches with fabric tabs through the shoulder harness slots. The body pillow is for rear-facing only. The manual says to remove the harness covers if they stop the chest clip sitting correctly or prevent a tight enough fit on a smaller infant. To clean, remove the harness system and accessories, then machine wash the pad separately in cold water on a gentle cycle, without bleach, and tumble dry 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. Spot clean the straps, buckle and shell; do not submerge them. The cup holders are top-rack dishwasher safe.
Is the Disney Baby Jive 2-in-1 Convertible Car Seat recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
Disney Baby Jive 2-in-1 Convertible Car Seat: common questions
What are the Jive height and weight limits?
The manual gives rear-facing at 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 in, and forward-facing at 22 to 65 lb and 29 to 49 in. A child must be at least 1 year old to ride forward-facing, and children under 1 must ride rear-facing.
Why does the product page list different forward-facing limits?
The product page lists forward-facing from 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 in, while the linked manual starts lower. The manual may be an earlier revision, so I would check the labels on the seat you receive.
The manual says it is certified for aircraft use and carries a certification label on its side. Install it in a window seat, use it only on forward-facing aircraft seats, and ask for a belt extender if the lap belt is too short.
How does the Jive compare with the Scenera Extend?
The Scenera Extend page lists rear-facing from 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 in and forward-facing from 30 to 50 lb and 34.4 to 44 in. Its forward-facing harness stage is the shorter one.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Safety 1st lists 2 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Safety 1st so you hear about the next one.
