The Sprint has two rear-facing level lines. For a child 5 to 30 lb and 19 to 34.3 in., the bottom line must be parallel with the ground. For a child 30 to 40 lb and 34.4 to 40 in. who can sit up unassisted, the top line applies. Use recline Position 3 or 2 to get there; never Position 1 rear-facing. Forward-facing and booster modes use Position 1, fully upright. Install with the lower anchor belt or the vehicle belt, never both, and keep the tether stored when rear-facing. Behind a front seat, the car seat must touch that seat back or be as close as possible.

Forward-facing starts only once the child has outgrown rear-facing and runs to 65 lb or 49 in., or until the fit checks fail. The manual gives the vehicle belt with the tether for a child up to 65 lb, or the lower anchor belt with the tether, which must not be used for a child over 55 lb. The tether must always be attached when an anchor is available. The harness straps go at the shoulders or slightly above, and the seat should not move more than 1 in. side to side at the belt path.

The head and body pillows are optional, rear-facing only, and must be used together. The body pillow comes in two pieces, back and bottom. The lower shoulder harness slots for smaller children require both pillows and the headrest in its lowest position. The storage holder is top-rack dishwasher safe and fits only on the left side. For booster use, the buckle and buckle cover are removed and stored, and the chest clip, straps and buckle tongues go behind the headrest and seat pad. The booster uses the vehicle lap and shoulder belt only, and the child's head must be at least 5 in. below the vehicle roof.

The pad comes off without removing the harness. Machine wash it separately in cold water on a gentle cycle with the harness cover fastening strips closed and no bleach, then tumble dry separately for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat and remove it immediately. Spot clean the harness straps and check them often for wear. The seat must not be used more than 10 years after the date of manufacture. It is certified for aircraft with the internal harness, on forward-facing aircraft seats only, and not as a booster.

Forward-facing, the manual says not to install with the lower anchor belt for a child weighing more than 55 lb. Use the vehicle belt with the tether from there to 65 lb.
