Rear-facing installs with the lower anchor belt, a lap belt or a lap/shoulder belt, never the anchor belt and a vehicle belt together, and the tether stays stored. The base must be flat on the vehicle seat. For a child 5 to 30 lb and 19 to 34.3 in., the bottom level line must be parallel with the ground. For 30 to 40 lb and 34.4 to 40 in., and only if the child can sit up unassisted, the top level line must be parallel with the ground. If needed, the manual allows a tightly rolled towel or foam pool noodle under the front to level the correct line, and says to check often that the padding is still in place. The seat should not move more than 1 in. at the belt path.
There is no adjustable headrest. To change harness height, fully loosen the straps, unhook the strap loops from the splitter plate at the back, pull the straps out of the shoulder harness slots and rethread them into the right slots, with the sewn ends facing you. Rear-facing, the child's head must be at least 1 in. below the top of the seat and the straps at or slightly below the shoulders. Forward-facing, the ears must be below the top of the seat. The buckle must be in the 1st or 2nd slot rear-facing; any slot works forward-facing.
Forward-facing with the harness covers 30 to 50 lb and 34.4 to 44 in. When anchors are available, the manual says the tether must always be attached, adjusted and secured; if a seating position has no tether anchor, use another position or have one installed. For cleaning, machine wash the pad and harness covers separately in cold water on a gentle cycle, with the fastening strips closed and no bleach. Tumble dry separately for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. The cup holder hooks under the shell edge on either side and is dishwasher safe.
