The Grow and Go Extend 'n Ride LX (CC412) is an all-in-one seat: rear-facing 5 to 40 lb and 19 to 40 in., forward-facing 30 to 65 lb and 34.4 to 49 in., and a booster 40 to 100 lb and 43.4 to 52 in. Its footrest adds up to 7 in. of rear-facing legroom. It expires after 10 years.
It suits a child who will ride rear-facing for a long time and a parent who wants somewhere for the legs to go. The trade-off is setup: the footrest is rotated out of the way, the seat is installed, and only then is the footrest set. The manual says to rotate the footrest out of the way, install the seat, then adjust the footrest. Rear-facing, use one of the 3 rear-facing footrest positions to put it as flush against the vehicle seat as possible; a small gap is allowed. Forward-facing and in booster mode, choose the footrest arm and footrest position that best fit the child, or put it in the storage position. In booster mode the manual uses arm positions 2 or 3. One set of rotation buttons moves the arm (positions 1, 2 and 3) and another moves the footrest (positions A, B, C). In those two modes the child's knees must not pass the top of the cup holders or snack tray.
The seat has 3 recline positions. Rear-facing uses Position 3 or 2, never Position 1. For a child 5 to 30 lb and 19 to 34.3 in., the bottom level line must be parallel with the ground. For a child 30 to 40 lb and 34.4 to 40 in. who can sit up unassisted, the top level line must be parallel instead. The car seat base must be flat on the vehicle seat, and behind a front seat it must touch that seat back or be as close as possible. Forward-facing and booster modes use Position 1, fully upright.
Forward-facing, the manual says not to use the lower anchors for a child weighing more than 50 lb; the vehicle belt is required from there to 65 lb, and the tether must be attached whenever an anchor is available. In booster mode the harness is stored, the lower anchor belt and tether stay on their storage attachments, and only the vehicle lap and shoulder belt holds the child. The seat is certified for aircraft only with the internal harness, not as a booster, and must not be used more than 10 years after the date of manufacture.
The head and body pillows are optional, for rear-facing only, and must be used together. If you use the lower shoulder harness slots for a smaller infant, the manual sends you to a separate set of steps. The pad comes off without removing the harness. Machine wash it separately in cold water on a gentle cycle with the harness cover fastening strips closed and no bleach, then tumble dry separately for 10 to 12 minutes on low heat. Spot clean the harness straps with warm sudsy water and check them often for wear.

Safety 1st says the ComfortPlus footrest provides up to 7 in. of additional legroom in rear-facing mode. It also works forward-facing and as a footrest or step in booster mode.
The manual says not to use the lower anchors for a child weighing more than 50 lb. Above that, install with the vehicle belt and the tether, up to the 65 lb harness limit.
