Who the Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat fits

This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Graco gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.

Rear-facing harness4 to 50 lb
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness26.5 to 65 lb · Up to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
High-back booster40 to 100 lb · 43 to 57 in · from 4 years
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat installs

Lower anchors
InRight LATCH. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Recline
6 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.

Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.

Will it fit your car?

At 19 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 20.61 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

  • Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
  • Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
  • Aircraft certification is printed on the seat’s own label; check before you fly.

What features does the Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat have?

  • 4-position extension panel (up to 5 in extra legroom)
  • InRight LATCH

Is the Extend2Fit 3-in-1 Car Seat recalled?

NHTSA currently lists one campaign naming this Graco family: 16C002000. A campaign names a family, not always every build, so check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture against the campaign itself.

I have not reviewed these campaigns for this model yet, so shopping links stay paused here.

Before you buy

  1. Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
  2. Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Graco lists 3 colors of this seat.
  3. Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
  4. Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Graco so you hear about the next one.
