The Graco Contender Slim is a convertible harness seat. It suits travel and second-car use, where a 16 lb seat with aircraft certification matters more than a long rear-facing range. Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
At 18.9 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 16 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.

The recline comes from a foot under the seat. Rear-facing, flip the foot to the rear-facing position, route the lower anchor strap or vehicle belt through the blue-labelled belt path, and check that the ball is in the blue area on level ground. Forward-facing, flip the foot to the forward-facing position and set the seat upright, using the orange-labelled belt path. The forward-facing LATCH install is not for a child over 45 lb. In every method, the seat should not move more than 1 in side to side or front to back at the belt path.

Rear-facing, the harness straps go at or just below the shoulders, and the top of the head must be at least 1 in below the headrest adjustment handle. Infants under 22 lb must ride rear-facing. Forward-facing, harness covers must be used for children 25 lb or less and placed on top of the shoulders, without stopping the chest clip from sitting at armpit level. To adjust the buckle strap, the recline foot must be in the forward-facing position so you can reach the metal retainer under the seat. The cup holder can be used on either side.

The manual says the seat is certified for aircraft use on forward-facing aircraft seats, installed with the lap belt, and without the tether when forward-facing. To remove the seat pad, unsnap it on both sides, undo the 2 elastic loops at the top, unclip the front edge and remove the button clips before washing. Machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle and drip-dry, without bleach. For the headrest pad, raise the headrest to the highest position first. Stop using the seat 7 years after the date of manufacture.

Yes. The manual says it is certified for use in aircraft, on forward-facing aircraft seats only, following the lap belt installation steps. Do not use the tether forward-facing on a plane.
