Who is the TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 Car Seat for?
The Graco TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 is an all-in-one seat used rear-facing from 5 to 40 lb, forward-facing with the harness from 26.5 to 65 lb up to 49 in, and as a highback booster from 40 to 100 lb and 43 to 57 in from age 4. It installs with a SnugLock lock-off and expires after 10 years.
Reasons to consider it
A SnugLock lock-off that locks the vehicle belt, so the retractor does not need switching
The lower anchor strap also routes under SnugLock
6 recline positions, three of them for rear-facing
Certified for aircraft use with the harness, without the lock-off
Things to weigh up
Reaching SnugLock means loosening the harness, raising the headrest and pulling back the seat pad
Lower anchors are not for a child over 45 lb
Over 40 lb forward-facing, recline position 5 is required
On aircraft, the manual allows it only when the SnugLock lock-off is not used
My take on the TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 Car Seat
It suits a parent who expects to install with the vehicle belt and wants a lock-off to hold it; the manual says that with SnugLock you do not need to switch the retractor. Graco lists it at 19 in wide, 20 in deep and 18.92 lb. The TriRide has the same limits, dimensions and 6 recline positions without SnugLock, so the lock-off is the main reason to choose this one.

Who the TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 Car Seat fits
This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Graco gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.
Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness26.5 to 65 lb · Up to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
High-back booster40 to 100 lb · 43 to 57 in · from 4 years
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 Car Seat installs
Belt lock-off
SnugLock installation. A lock-off clamps the vehicle belt so you do not have to switch the belt's retractor into its locked mode.
Lower anchors
LATCH equipped. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Recline
6 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
At 19 in at its widest, measure your back seat before counting on three across. It weighs 18.92 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Aircraft certification is printed on the seat’s own label; check before you fly.

What to know before you live with it
How SnugLock installation works
To reach the lock-off, loosen the harness, raise the headrest to the top, unbuckle, undo 2 snaps and pull the bottom seat pad back. Push the lever to open SnugLock and rotate it to the rear-facing or forward-facing belt path as needed. Route the vehicle belt, or the lower anchor strap, under the lock-off, press down in the center of the seat and remove slack, then close SnugLock until it clicks. The manual warns not to pull the belt with excessive force and to keep hands away from the locking area. The seat should move less than 1 in at the belt path.
Rear-facing, choose one of the three rear-facing recline positions and keep the head at least 1 in below the headrest adjustment handle. Forward-facing, use recline position 4, 5 or 6, and position 5 for children over 40 lb. Lower anchors are not for a child over 45 lb. The infant head and body supports are only for children under 20 lb. In highback booster mode the harness goes into its storage compartment and the seat sits in recline position 6. LATCH can hold the booster in place up to 100 lb, while the lap and shoulder belt holds the child.
Graco says to machine wash the seat pad in cold water with gentle soap on a delicate cycle and drip dry, without bleach. The harness and LATCH strap are surface wash only with mild soap and a damp cloth or wipes; do not immerse them. Clean the buckle by agitating it in a cup of warm water and pressing the red button, without soap, detergent or lubricant, and do not submerge the buckle strap. Stop using the seat and throw it away 10 years after the date of manufacture.
Is the TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 Car Seat recalled?
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1 Car Seat: common questions
What are the TrioGrow SnugLock weight and height limits?
Rear-facing is 5 to 40 lb with the head at least 1 in below the handle, forward-facing is 26.5 to 65 lb up to 49 in, and the highback booster is 40 to 100 lb and 43 to 57 in for children at least 4.
It is certified for aircraft with the harness, on forward-facing aircraft seats, and only when the SnugLock lock-off is not used. It is not certified as a booster because aircraft have no shoulder belts.
The TriRide has the same mode limits, 6 recline positions and 10 headrest positions, and Graco lists it at 19 in wide and 18.45 lb. Graco lists it as LATCH equipped and does not list SnugLock for it.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Graco lists 2 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Graco so you hear about the next one.
