The Graco SlimFit3 LX is a 3-in-1 seat Graco lists at 16.7 in wide. It is used rear-facing from 5 to 40 lb, forward-facing with the harness from 26.5 to 65 lb, and as a high-back booster from 40 to 100 lb for children 43 to 57 in tall. It has no backless mode and expires after 10 years.
Reasons to consider it
Graco lists it at 16.7 in wide, with a three-across chapter in the manual
A lock-off on forward-facing belt installs, so no retractor switching
Optional cup holders that are top-rack dishwasher safe
Certified for aircraft with the internal harness
Things to weigh up
No backless booster mode; the high-back booster ends at 100 lb
Starts at 5 lb rear-facing
Two recline positions in each harness direction
LATCH in booster mode needs the tether as well
My take on the SlimFit3 LX 3-in-1 Car Seat
It suits a family fitting three seats across a back row, or using a narrow car. The manual has a chapter on three-across installs, and Graco lists the seat at 16.7 in wide and 19.2 lb. The trade-off against the 4Ever DLX is no backless booster mode and fewer recline positions, 4 against 6, with Graco listing the DLX at 21.5 in wide.

Who the SlimFit3 LX 3-in-1 Car Seat fits
This seat covers 3 stages, and a child has to meet every limit of the stage they are in. Graco gives it a 10-year life from the date of manufacture, so check the date label before using a hand-me-down.
Rear-facing harness5 to 40 lb
The child faces the back of the car, which keeps the head, neck and spine supported in a frontal crash. Keep this mode as long as the child fits it.
Forward-facing harness26.5 to 65 lb · Up to 49 in
The child faces forward in the seat’s own harness. Use the top tether every time, and stay in the harness until the child outgrows it.
High-back booster40 to 100 lb · 43 to 57 in · from 4 years
The seat’s own back and belt guide route the vehicle belt across the shoulder, and the sides give the child something to lean on when they sleep.

How the SlimFit3 LX 3-in-1 Car Seat installs
Belt lock-off
Integrated belt lock-off (forward-facing). A lock-off clamps the vehicle belt so you do not have to switch the belt's retractor into its locked mode.
Lower anchors
InRight LATCH. Check your vehicle manual for which seating positions have anchors, and switch to the seat belt once the child passes the anchor weight limit in the manual.
Recline
4 recline positions. The recline angle is what keeps a young baby’s airway open, so set it before tightening the install.
Harness
10-position no-rethread harness. Check the harness height at each growth spurt: at or below the shoulders rear-facing, at or above them forward-facing.
Every install is a fit between one seat and one vehicle. Read both manuals, and use a free inspection station if anything is unclear.
Will it fit your car?
At 16.7 in at its widest, this seat is one of the narrower ones in its class and is a candidate for three across in many mid-size cars. It weighs 19.2 lb, which matters if you will move it between cars or carry it through an airport.
Check your vehicle manual for lower anchor positions and any head-restraint rules.
Rear-facing seats need front-seat room: try the install behind the driver before you commit.
Aircraft certification is printed on the seat’s own label; check before you fly.

What to know before you live with it
Fitting three across
The manual recommends the vehicle belt over the lower anchors for three-across, since lower anchors fix the seat in one place and many vehicles lack them in all three positions. It suggests buckling all three belts first to judge the fit, installing the center seat first, and putting the rear-facing seat in the center. If cup holders get in the way, remove one. Seats can touch but should not overlap, and each should move less than 1 in at the belt path. An infant carrier next to it must be attached to its base at all four points each time.
Rear-facing uses one of two rear-facing recline positions and forward-facing one of two forward-facing positions. The booster goes in the 4th position. Lower anchor connectors fit vehicles with 11 in (28 cm) anchor spacing, and LATCH is not used forward-facing for a child over 45 lb. For a forward-facing belt install, the lap and shoulder belt both go under the lock-off, and the manual says you then do not need to switch the retractor. In booster mode, LATCH is allowed only if the vehicle maker permits it, and the tether must then be used.
Rear-facing, the top of the head must be at least 1 in below the headrest adjustment lever. Forward-facing, the straps sit at or just above the shoulders and the ears stay below the top of the headrest. The head and body supports are for children under 20 lb, rear-facing only. The headrest pad unsnaps from the shell, and the seat pad uses 6 snaps. Pads machine wash cold on a delicate cycle and drip-dry, with no bleach. Cup holders must come off before the front seat pad.
No campaign in the current NHTSA child-restraint data names this model family, and I have not run a separate review for it. Check your seat’s model number and date of manufacture before use.
Rear-facing is 5 to 40 lb, forward-facing with the harness 26.5 to 65 lb, and high-back booster 40 to 100 lb for a child at least 4 years old and 43 to 57 in tall.

Before you buy
Weigh and measure your child. The limits above are the manufacturer’s, and a child has to meet all of them for the mode they will use.
Confirm the exact version. Colors, retail exclusives and model numbers change limits more often than you would expect; Graco lists 2 colors of this seat.
Read the manual before you buy, not after. It is linked above and holds the fit rules, the install methods and the expiry.
Check recalls by model number and date of manufacture, and register the seat with Graco so you hear about the next one.
